How to Determine Your Worth

Name your price, and don't compromise!

They say time is the most valuble thing on earth. Growing up, I'd always tell myself I don't believe in exchanging my precious time for $10 an hour when I could learn to create something worth $1000.00 within an hour. So why do people continue to believe that the only way to keep the lights on and food on the table is to work a dead-end wage per hour job? Simple. It's because they have not been taught any other way. It's like this story I heard about these dolphins that could do tricks and flip 15 ft in the air. The question came up that if they could jump that high, why didn't they just jump over the 4 ft glass wall that was separating them from their freedom of the vast ocean? The trainer answered well, they just haven't been taught how. You see, if your not taught how to achieve freedom, you'll just end up working for someone else for the rest of your life.

Since I was old enough to work I kept two jobs and an education in a rotation. For me, failure was not an option. When I was 22 years old I ended my jobs as a waitress and mentor at the Boys and Girls club, to pursue an online business making $5 dollars per minute. That gave me the freedom to stay home to practice sewing and designing. If I worked my online business 24/7, my potential was worth $7,200.00 a week or $374,400.00 a year. That's over 3 times more than the average American family income. The highest paid fashion designers only make 61,444.00 a year, but still, I continued to build my skills and live on a strict budget with the mindset that whatever I decide to do I will strive to be one of the best. I became a creator, not a consumer and a force to be reckoned with.

Today, I'm going to share with you 10 tips on how I determined my worth, which has created this reality where it seems like time doesn't exist. That doesn't mean I waist it. I've always known I wanted to be a designer and entrepreneur, so I've dedicated most of my time learning skills, gaining knowledge, and building the reputation and credible portfolio I needed to become great. I feel that I am qualified to help you align with your true value because over the past 6 years I've been able to determine my own price per hour, and now, I'm charging by the day. I have the time to study other wealth building industries as I continue to add value to my own worth. I once told someone the best investment to make is on their own personal skills and knowledge. He responded with I can't pay the bills with knowledge. That is someone who will be struggling for the rest of his life. Don't be that guy.

1. Help yourself. Use the internet wisely, not just for social media. If you help yourself up, you won't have to pay someone else to.

2. Eliminate Distractions. If it's not a hell yes, It's a hell no.

3. Determine why. For everything you do, ask yourself why you're doing it until you feel good and your actions make sense.

4. Let negativity motivate you. Some people say avoid negativity at all cost, but that can also keep you from avoiding the true reality, and won't changing anything.

5. Go the extra mile. When you feel like giving up, just take a break, then start it back up when you're ready.

6. Be confident. When you take time to learn and practice your craft, you will have no problem charging what you're worth.

7. Research your market. If your prices are too high you won't get business. If your prices are too low, you won't be appreciated. People appreciate quality prices.

8. Build a reputation. Become so good at what you do that you are known for it.

9. Have a support system. When you have a great idea you've made sense out of, it won't be hard to find at least one other person to support you.

10. Never give up. Keep making your products better and better.
